Since in Brazil, a girl's fifteenth birthday is a the biggest birthday celebration, my parents gave me a trip to anywhere I wanted. I could've chosen Paris or Venice, but similar to any ordinary teenage girl, I've always had the desire to visit New York City. They allowed me to take two of best friends, Tais and Nathalie to spend five days exploring the big apple with me. We were all equally excited because it was our first time in NYC and our first trip together.
gossip girl
The main reason why I've always wanted to visit New York was because of my favorite Tv show called Gossip Girl. This Tv show portrays the life and adventures of socialite teenagers who live in Manhattan. Each episode shows a piece of the Upper East Side, which is the most wealthy neighborhood of Manhattan.
Since we were all huge fans of the Tv Show and the characters, we decided to dedicate one entire day to visit all the sites from the show. Our first stop was the Empire Hotel, the home and business of my favorite character Chuck Bass. As I walked in the building that has enormous letters on the top, I immediately recognize the dark interior, with low light and black booths.
The following site was the famous Met steps in the metropolitan museum of art. The Met steps is one of the most iconic site of Gossip Girl, it is where Blair and her followers ate yogurt while they discussed about their activities after school and gossiped. Tais, Nathalie and I had our own Blair moment while we were sitting in the crowded stairs eating the yogurt we got.
We visited many more sites of Gossip Girl, such as the Grand Central Terminal, where occurs the opening scene of the Tv show, and its the location of several films. The architecture of the Grand Central Terminal is unbelievable, with gold and silver colors everywhere. We also went to Blair's apartment, and her school St. Jude's school and many other sites.
The final site was the place where Blair and Chuck got married located in the Central Park. That episode is my favorite, consequently I was really emotional when we arrived in the little area that they got married. I felt like I was reliving the episode again, as I remembered every detail of that special scene to me.

Shopping
New York is the shopping paradise for every woman of all ages. The store contain a variety of styles and pieces that has not possible to find in most cities. We spent an entire day shopping all over New York City, including in Times Square, Fifth Avenue, and even to Soho. We went to do many stores, that I can't even count.
We went to many clothing store, ForeverXXI, Zara, American Outfitters, Hollister, Victoria's Secret, Juice couture, Henri Bendel and many more
Forever XXI was one of the biggest of them all. It had an amazing collection that was exclusive to the Manhattan store. The reception of the Hollister store was great, many attractive good smelling models taking pictures to every person who goes in the store. Henri Bendel was definitely my favorite store. The striped doors and the immensity of the store made me feel like I was in another world, or another dimension. Henri Bendel in New York has the best brands in one store. There I got my first set of makeup of really good brands. I got all kinds of makeup from Channel, Dior, Mac, Nars and they all gave me a tutorial to how to apply them. It was there where my love for makeup grew.
Clothing stores weren't the only store department where NYC was the best, I was enchanted by FAO Schwarz, I felt like I was in the set of a movie. The store was where I was living my late childhood dreams. There was all kinds of toys to all ages and of course the famous and iconic piano. Another toy store that caught my attention was Toys R US located in the center of Times Square. It has five floors and a themed ferris wheel in the middle of the store.

Restaurants
I never understood why people mentioned the quality of the foods and restaurants in New York so much. After that trip, my perspective in culinary changed dramatically. The first night in the city was concluded by the dinner in one of the finest restaurants called Daniel. It's a five star restaurant, full of gigantic chandeliers and incredible decoration.
They served the best french cuisine I've tasted. At the end of the dinner they gave me a bouquet with light pink roses and a birthday cake with my name on it.
The other night we had dinner in a really fun and interactive place. It was a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde restaurant. There was where I first learned about the story, that I read this year in English class. The restaurant was full of experiments and weird creature everywhere, the decoration was amazing. There was also a show where "Dr. Jekyll" came to life and interacted with people and then he would suddenly transform into Mr.Hyde. I remember one thing that I loved about the restaurant was the restroom, which was hidden in a fake fireplace and even the mirror would talk to you. Inside the restaurant there's a haunted house, after dinner my dad and I, were the only people courages enough to confront that. Honestly, it was the most terrifying moment of my life, at one moment one of the creatures forced me to go into a cage and my dad had to find a way to get me out of there.
The reason why I love the food in New York that much is because it was there were I formed my passion for pizza. If know me, you know that one of the foods/things, that I love the most in my life is pizza. In New York I tried a pizza in a random restaurant and I fell in love with it. There's something different between the pizza in NYC and the pizza and any other city.

ACTIVITIES
There is an enormous quantity of activities to do in New York, in my opinion more than any other place I've been to. We tried to do as much as we could during the five days. We visited the empire states, Central park, the Madame Tussauds museum, Ice skating and more
We went to the Empire States an 80 floor building, where we witness a jaw-dropping view of Manhattan. We learned a lot about the history of the city and the locations of the places.

Central Park is known as the lungs of New York City, because it is the only place where people can have fresh air from the nature. It is such a contrast to leave Times Square and go to Central Park, where is not as crowded and people are calm. Central Park is like the Russian Nesting dolls, because it is like a world inside a world. There are so many activities to do there, that I could spend days just in that amazing park. We saw many street concerts, which was really fun, because it was the first time for all of us to see a show like that. We went to the zoo, visited the open theater, and the huge garden where people have picnic.
The Madame Tussauds museum, was were we spend the afternoon of our second day. The museum has many celebrities, characters and historical people in wax figures. I found really interesting how identical or realistic the wax figures were. I felt like all the wax figures were real.
Tais, Nathalie and I ice skated for the first time in our lives there. We decided to go to ice rink in Rockefeller Center. The place has an enormous gold statue and a ice rink in the center. We did surprisingly really good for our first time. We had so much fun. It was definitely the best trip of my life!
